2009 ISDE, DAY 1 PORTUGAL

It's on!

By the end of day one, Toby Price is the outstanding candidate for his first ever ISDE and his times are right up there with the big guns. Chris Hollis is also pulling out the quick times but the deep sand is giving his little TC250 a run for its money. Tomorrow is a repeat of the tests from today so I'm certain he will have a better shot the second time around. My times were not exactly what I would have hoped for, so tomorrow I'm going to push a little harder & not be so cautious. GNCC style racing is very different from the sprints so my performance will surely improve day by day. Regardless, I felt great & the bike was good too ... I did on the other hand have a crash on the last test, which put me around 49th in the overall position. Anyway, gotta keep it short - off to get my beauty sleep.

Results are as follows;

E1 Stefan Merriman - 6th
Chris Hollis - 10th
Kirk Hutton - 19th

E2 Toby Price - 9th
Jarrod Bewley - 19th

E3 Glenn Kearney - 12th

Trophy Teams;
1st France
2nd Finland
3rd Italy
4th Australia
5th USA

Wish us luck as we'll do you all proud!!! Aussie, aussie, aussie.

GK.

Blog Profile Picture

Born in Picton, NSW, Australia in 1981, Glenn Kearney started life on two wheels as a motocrosser, but soon found his calling to the rugged world of Enduro racing. He became one of the best in the country and was recognised for his extreme resilience in the International Six Days Enduro, keeping a wounded bike alive by topping up the engine with vegetable oil he'd sourced from a farmer. By 2004, Glenn won his first Australian Four Day Enduro Championship for the Ballard's Yamaha Team on a YZ250, before moving to America to take on the ruthless sport of GNCC.

After 7-years in the USA, Glenn is back in Australia racing for the Paul Feeney Group Husqvarna racing team. Glenn is heralded as one of the nicest guys in the sport and has picked up where he left off by running at podium pace in the first rounds of the 2011 Aus Off-road Championships.
